FMB Inc. (Representative Director: Yuji Ichikawa, Headquarters: Jingumae, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, hereinafter referred to as “FMB”) and swatchbook Inc. (Representative: Yazan Malkosh, Headquarters: Irvine, California, USA, hereinafter referred to as “swatchbook”) in the United States, which operates the world’s largest 3D design and digital material library, started collaboration to conclude a business contract on September 5, 2022.
“FMB” has been promoting the “fashion revolution” in Japan, which is a 3DCG-centered transformation of information integrated production of the supply chain. The conclusion of this agreement will make it possible to promote a “fashion revolution” on a global scale, and to promote the transformation of the fashion industry, which has a large environmental impact, on a global scale.
swatchbook is a platformer founded in California in 2017 that operates the world’s largest 3D design and digital material library. In particular, they have strengths in the amount and quality of digital data for apparel fabrics, and they already have track records of working with global brands.
On the other hand, FMB is an affiliated company of Tokyo Fashion-technology Lab (operating company: TFL Inc. hereinafter “TFL”), a fashion tech school that trains fashion 3D modelists, and has a production line with one of the largest number of fashion 3D modelists in the world.
The 3D models (clothing, fashion goods, avatars, etc.) produced by FMB and the material data of swatchbook are linked on the platform, and not only fashion-related companies but also IT, games, and video production companies will design clothes easily, and the platform will create the future which everyone including consumers can enjoy fashion design.
Fashion Meta-data Bank, a platform that utilizes fashion 3DCG developed by FMB, has a virtual try-on function, size confirmation function, and pre-order function that utilizes 3DCG. As a result, we will contribute to the reduction of surplus inventory through prospective production, the resolution of labor issues caused by the pursuit of a low manufacturing cost rate, and the creation of a highly profitable industrial structure, thereby transforming into a sustainable industry.
